Another Student Loan Payment Pause – What you need to know.

November 25, 2022

The student loan payment pause is extended again. Payments will begin once the U.S. Department of Education is permitted to implement the debt relief program, or all litigation is resolved. If this occurs before June 30, 2023, payments will resume 60 days after that date. If it is not implemented or resolved by June 30, 2023, then payments will begin after August 29, 2023.

It has been three years since payments were required on Department of Education student loans. A lot can happen in three years. Have you changed household members? Got married? Had a baby? Decided to go back to school? These are all things that may affect your student loan payment when payments resume.

Borrowers who need their repayment plan calculated should pay close attention to how and when they file their taxes for 2022. Please file taxes correctly and early to avoid delays in payment towards forgiveness programs
